| Customer Reviews: Great add to the aquarium March 21, 2010 Lawrence A. Cremia (Fort Myers, FL) This is a great add to my Amazon biotope aquarium setup. I looked for a long time at real driftwood and the like. Decided on this item, and it lived up to all my expectations, and beyond. This would be a great addition to any aquarium!
Pretty nice alternative to real wood! June 8, 2008 Ryan C. Ridgely (Athens, OH United States)
I bought a pair of these to put in our 75 gallon tank with two green severums in it. Out of the box, I was really impressed with the "realness". Very well done. It really adds a nice flooded Amazon basin (not amazon.com!) look to the tank. A month later and they still look great.
Only a couple "problems" with this product: 1) They're a lot harder than real wood, so if your large fish should "crash" into this while zipping somewhere, they'll get some ugly scrapes and boo-boo's. Cure is to not crowd your tank with craggy plastic things, and leave plenty of swimming room. Once I put our "stumps" on opposite sides of the tank, things seem much better. 2) The other problem I've noticed is that they're hollow to the tip of the roots... which means food finds it's way deep down into there, and it's near impossible to get it out unless you invert the thing and hose it out. Also, I think one of our bristlenose pleco's might have just gotten stuck and well... died... in there, but I never see much of our two bristlenose's anyway, so I can't really say for sure.
Nice product, though!
